PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ NOTES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS DESCRIPTION
This Herb Grinder mold is made from soft, tear resistant, very low long term shrinkage silicone. It is great or casting wax, gypsum, resins, concrete and other materials and is heat resistant up to 450°F.
The physical life of the mold depends on how you use it (materials cast, frequency, etc.). Casting abrasive materials such as concrete can quickly erode mold detail, while casting non-abrasive materials (wax) will not affect mold detail. Before storing, the mold can be gently cleaned with a soap solution and rinsed with water. Rubbing the mold repeatedly or with things such as fabric and paper towels can cause scratches to the shine which will cause imperfections in the details. Molds should be stored on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.
HEAT
Most artists apply heat to pop bubbles in resin once it has been poured, doing this can be harmful to your silicone mold. It can and WILL burn the resin and can damage the mold as well. The resin can burn and fuse to the silicone and if the silicone is damaged, it will cause imperfections in the finished product or cause the heated resin to stick to the silicone mold, damaging the mold itself. If you want to pop the bubbles do so with a torch or heat gun before putting it into the mold.
*************NOTES***********
Care must be given when using resin with the grinder mold. This is not a simple “pour and walk away” type of mold. Because of all the little intricate parts of the grinder, you MUST wait a FULL 24 hrs before demolding, to ensure the “teeth” are fully cured. If you pull the piece out too soon, you risk breaking off bits of the teeth which will cause the grinder to work improperly. Pour resin into the grinder holes first and make sure there are no air bubbles. Using a dabbing needle tip works best! Or you can use a fine point tip tool or toothpick. Use the toothpick or pointer tool to pull the air bubbles up through the teeth part of the mold. When there is no more air bubbles, pour the rest of the resin. Be careful when removing cured piece. Don’t just tear it out, take caution as to not damage the mold.
This mold was made using a 2 piece grinder that was magnetized to stick together. Magnets can be added to the center of each mold while pouring. Finished pieces will then be magnetized and will stick the grinder together.
It will take some practice to get it just right. 😊
This Mold is for a 2 piece grinder (there is no keif chamber).
Due to flashing of silicone when molding the piece, it creates a small lip in the inner part lip of the mold. This gets trimmed and may cause the finished piece to feel a little rough. Tris can be fixed by gently sanding the lip of each piece with a high grit piece of sand paper.
IMPORTANT: There is NO food safe grade resin, so just like any other plastic or acrylic material, take caution when using resin with this mold. As with any plastic or acrylic grinder, resin produced grinders can crack or break. The teeth can break off into the herb chamber, into whatever you are grinding and resin is NOT safe for consumption in any way shape or form. Therefore take caution when using them (the resin created piece, not the silicone mold itself).
All molds are made to order, brand new and never used. Once orders are placed, it takes 7-10 business days to process.
Please inspect mold prior to use. Molds are NOT RETURNABLE, and cannot he returned once used.
Finished piece once demolded will measure 3 inches
